5th Card of 52

Here is a birthday card that we will be making at the February Stamp camp.
The technique is Faux Tearing. Using the Stampin' Pastels and the Daubers. Again got this idea from Dawn!

All Materials Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Valentine Lollipop Holders

Today I woke up feeling under the weather so I stayed home from work.
I kept myself occupied by finishing the Valentine Lollipop Holders I made for coworkers. I lifted the idea off of a fellow Stampin' Up Demonstrator Dawn Griffith. She always has such neat ideas.
The Lot of Them:

A Closer Look at One:

The Inside.

Not difficult to make, we will have to make these at a future camp but with a different theme.

Ok, I am finally sick of it

I announced this morning that I have come to the point that I am SICK of winter for the year. I don't mind snow, I don't mind cold. I do mind multiple days of below zero temperatures, rain turning to ice and blowing snow drifting snow especially when one is shoveling or snow blowing.
This has been one of the most unpredictable winter in a long time. Yesterday we almost hit 50 degrees, today we are at 7 below. What the heck?
Last night we had blizzard type conditions, blowing snow with white out conditions. Now they are calling for another snow storm for Thursday night 2 to 4 inches by Friday morning, wonderful!
My car is even protesting the sub-zero weather. The poor thing, the steering column is moaning. I know it's the cold causing my car to protest because when we almost hit 50 degrees yesterday, the car didn't udder a sound; but this morning, it was loud and moaning again.

March 20th can't get here soon enough!!!!

Young at Heart

Last night there was really nothing much on TV (watching the SAG awards didn't even cross our minds) so Todd turned to TMC and found the movie Young at Heart starring Doris Day and Frank Sinatra.

We both felt after watching the beginning that we weren't going to watch the whole movie but we did end up watching the whole thing. A few observations: Frank Sinatra doesn't appear in the movie for the 1st 45 mins and there are times especially towards the end of the movie that you felt they wrapped things up quickly to end the movie.

This movie is a remake of the 1938 movie Four Daughters. A short description of the moive that I got off of IMDB: When Alex enters the lives of the musical Tuttle family, each of the three daughters falls for him. He is charming, good looking and personable. Laurie and Alex seem made for each other and become engaged. When Barney comes into the picture to help Alex with some musical arrangements matters become complicated. He is seen as a challenge by Laurie, who can't believe anyone could be as cynical, and she is more than a match for his gloomy outlook on life.

4th Card of 52

This card was not my creation, I lifted the idea off of another stamper and tweeked mine slightly.

All materials used to make this card by Stampin Up!

4th Layout of 52

This layout is almost complete. I still have to journal down the center. I have a hard time journaling sometimes; I either don't know what to put, I'm afraid I will make a mistake when journaling or I really want to be creative within the journal and don't know how to begin. So usually I put the journaling off to complete at another time.

This was either the day before Ethan's 2nd b-day party or the morning of the party. He helped me make his b-day cake and then got to lick the rubber scrapper.

Senior Night

Tonight was Senior night for the Wrestlers. They had posters up with the Seniors featured and between the JV and Varsity meet they honored each wrestler by having the wrestler and their parents come to the center of the mat and they would say somethings about each Wrestler.
This weekend will be the last weekend of wrestling, I can't believe 4 seasons of early mornings, late nights, injuries, smelly laundry and meets are coming to an end.

My hope is that years from now Ethan tells stories to his children about his wrestling experience and that he has fond memories of this time in his life.

Another Conversation with a 5 Year Old

I was driving to pick up Jordan from his chess meet and had Nikolas in the car with me. I ask him how was school but once I asked that question I remembered it was Tuesday and he didn't attend school on Tuesdays. So I ask "How was school yesterday or did you not go to school yesterday?"
He replied: "I didn't go to school yesterday because it was a holiday." Testing him I asked "Do you know what holiday it was?" He answered: "It is King Luther’s Birthday"
I thought that was so cute, he was close. I think in a 5 year olds mind a King would deserve to have their b-day be a holiday.

Freeeeeezzzzing

This weekend was unbelievable cold outside.
I was very grateful to my stamp campers for coming out to stamp last night in this bitter cold.
I found this picture of Garfield that I think fits this weekend.

After we went grocery shopping real early this morning and I spent the rest of today under a blanket, on the couch, fighting a migrane staying warm.

3rd Layout of 52

I went scrapbooking with my sister last Satuday. So I got quite a few layouts completed to keep my 52 layouts in a year going. So here is my 3rd layout:

This was Easter 1991. We were living in a basement apartment at that time. Ethan was 1 year old.

It's a guy thing

I swear it must be a guy thing to always try and sneak a peek.

I do believe at times Jimmy Johnson has a hidden camera in my home.

Another Installment

Of things about me:
1. I do enjoy shoveling snow and mowing the lawn. Not a snow plow, an actual shovel and not mowing when it's terribly hot.

2. I hate clothes shopping. I do like to shop for clothes for my husband and sons but I hate to shop for myself. Give me a fashion catalog and I will shop that way.

3. I will not pay full price to go see a movie. I will choose a matinee or wait and go to the cheap theatre to see a movie. I will also not rent a DVD. If I want to see a DVD I will purchase it. This way I can watch it at my leasure and I can share the DVD with Family and Friends.

4. When I was younger I wanted to sky dive, now that I am older I think I am alittle wiser.

5. My car interior is always clean. I make sure if anyone brings cups, cans or food wrappers in the car, that they take them with them when they leave the car.

6. My favorite candle scent is food type scents. Cookie scents, Fruits and Flavors.
My favorite candle companies are Yankee Candles and Gold Canyon.

7. I like to play board games and card games

2nd Layout of 52

Here is my 2nd layout of the year.

The picture was taken at Christmas time 2007.
Again I need to learn how to scan and stitch together a 12x12 layout. The Baroque Motifs stamp set from Stampin' Up! was used along with their Very Vanilla Cardstock, Chocolate Chip & Purely Pomegranate inkpads. The title and year was made on my QuicKutz Silhouette machine.

Television Train Wrecks

Last night Todd and I watched some television.
We watched the 2nd episode of Celebrity Apprentice YAWN, can you say boring.
Once that sleeper was over we flipped and by accident found VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. The lives of these people are absolute train wrecks; watching them and how they have ruined their lives growing dependant on either Drugs or Alcohol is so very sad. Will I watch these shows again? If nothing else is on and since the writer strike is still in effect, my answer would be probably.

A Conversation with a Five Year Old

I watched my nephew Nikolas later in afternoon today; he had to take a ride with me to go get his cousin Jordan from school and Uncle Todd from the train. On the way home he was talking about his swim lessons and how he needs goggles for under the water. Uncle Todd said why don't you just keep your eyes closed when you go under the water so it doesn't bother you eyes? There was a slight pause and Nikolas' reply was "That's a Good Idea" the way he said it was like now why didn't I think of that... It was so funny!

Breathe a Sigh of Relief

We have spent the past 2 weeks working on 2 scholarship applications for Ethan.
1 is the Presidential Scholarship offered through Columbia College and the other is the Warner Brothers/Hanna Barbera Scholarship.
We breathe a sign of relief because we just completed our portion of the scholarships. Now it is up to the High School to put the proper information in the envelopes and mail them out for us.
Each scholarship asked for a presentation of Ethan's art work to be put on a CD to be viewed. Ethan has used PowerPoint before and lets just say Todd had a crash course learning it. They had to figure out how to add a video, music and make the kaliedoscope art work change like a kaliedoscope should. We are hoping these little extras will make the presentation stand out and be memorable to the scholarship committee.

Card 2 of 52 - Best Fishes

This card is being posted for a sketch challenge Stampinkub is having on his blog and Here's the card I made:

1st Layout of 52

Ok here is my 1st layout of the year, the 1st of I hope 52. It is a 2 page layout and I used my digital camera to take the picture of it. I am not too happy how the picture turned out, I think it is kind of yellowish in color. I am going to have to learn how to scan it and then thread the layout.
When the boys were younger they would almost always make a snowman every year. This is the one they made in 2000.

The snowflakes and letters were made with my Quickutz Silhouette machine and the snow words on the bottom of the pages were made with the Jumbo Snow wheel from Stampin' Up! I love this wheel and when I purchased it, I knew I would have to use it in a layout.
