Wrestling Awards Banquet

This past Wednesday we went to Ethan’s wrestling awards banquet.
It is so hard to believe that this was the 4th year attending this event and it doesn’t seem that long ago that he was a freshman and we were so new to the wrestling atmosphere.
Ethan received his Varsity Letter, Pin & a Plaque made out of wood with his name and weight class on it. Seniors are also eligible to receive the academic achievement award. This award is based on the athletes GPA’s; the athlete has to maintain a GPA of 3.0 and above. Out of the 12 senior wrestlers 7 received this award; Ethan being one of them. 2 wrestlers received the IHSA academic achievement award this is also based on their GPA’s this award went to wrestlers that maintain a GPA of 3.5 or above.
The senior wrestlers also received a DVD with highlights from the past year.

Like I said I can’t believe that we have attended 4 of these already. Time does go by so quickly!

I wasn't crazy about the card at 1st but it has grown on me and now I like it.
I think anytime I make a card for a challenge I question whether I like it or not.

My Youngest Might Have a Job

I have the fortune of selling cards I make at the Travelers Cafe in downtown Westmont, so this morning I went to the Cafe to swap out some of the older cards with newer ones. I was having a conversation with the owner about the Cafe possibly making my oldest sons graduation cake; when I decided to ask her if she might need help at the Cafe over the summer. She seemed rather pleased I asked so I told her about how Jordan wants to go to a culinary school and if she needed help over the summer it would give him the experience on how a restaurant is run. I told her he could clean, sweep and do garbage or do bust boy jobs. She asked his age and said he could work in the kitchen as long as he didn't slice meat and wondered if he was available to work now. I told her he is in school all day, and then she menitoned Saturdays.
So Jordan's 1st job maybe working in a Cafe on Saturdays until summer comes and then he would maybe work more often.

A week I don't want to repeat

This is one week I would not want to repeat.
I spent the better part of the week with a bad case of the flu. Four people in the department I work in were off with the same type of flu. I don't remember ever having a cold as bad as this one and I don't want to ever go through it again.
Earlier in the week my friend lost her father due to complications in his recovery from Kidney surgery. From my understanding he shouldn't have died. His death is under investigation and hopefully the family receives the answers they seek. He was a wonderful father to his 3 daughters and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
This is one week I would not want to repeat.

Figures

We are supposed to be hit again tonight with another snow storm, some areas are predicted to get 10"-12" It is supposed to start at around 6:00pm which is fine because we should all be home saftely at this time. But I haven't been to work since last Thursday due to fighting this flu and I have to return to work tomorrow. So it looks like I will be fighting the snow tomorrow to get to work. Figures.

Influenza

I ended up going to the doctor yesterday mostly because I had a burning sensation in my throat. I thought I had strep and figured that I'd better try and get in on a Saturday instead of suffering until Monday. When I was examined I found I had a 103.5 temperature and did not have strep but instead I had the flu.
Doc said I was on day 3 of the 5 day flu. I would have to take Monday and depending on how I feel possibly Tuesday off of work. Today thank goodness I am sitting upright, my back is very achy due to practically sleeping for about 24 hours.

5th Layout of 52

Here is the 5th layout for the year
You probably can barely see the pictures but Ethan used to put the Large Tupperware measuring cup on his head and when ever he would catch you taking his picture, he would come to the camera.
Ethan wasn't quite 2 yet.

Snow Storm Pictures

Here are some of the pictures from the snow we received overnight
Our backyard

Todd showing Jordan how to get through the heavy snow with the plow

Jordan Plowing

Ethan cleaning off the cars while Jordan plows

Snow Storm

Well we were hit with a major snow storm over the last 24 hours.
Schools closed, Todd called off and I received a phone call at 6:30am stating that they closed the campus at work. (This is very rare)
I would have ended up calling off sick anyway, I was up most of the night with a fever and chills. Not a fun evening, plus now Todd is saying he isn't feeling well.
We are going to send the boys out to plow a little later today, I will take some pictures and post our snow storm.
According to the news, the town over from us has a reported 9.1"
