Back from The Most Magical Place on Earth

We are back from our vacation. Spent last week at Walt Disney World. We were able to see all four parks twice and go to Downtown Disney. We had a real good time; but we are all very tired and legs and feet are pretty sore from all the walking.

He will be working from home on a pilot for a show and if the show gets picked up, he will then work on 10 more episodes. October is the beginning

of what I consider the Holiday season. Autumn/Fall and Halloween are my favorite times of the years. Love the changing of the season, the colors and the fun of dressing up to pretend just for a day or two that you are someone else. After October is another month I enjoy, November. This month brings in my oldest sons birthday, Thanksgiving and towards the end of the month the start of the Christmas season. Holiday music, decorations and gift shopping. Then of course there is December, my youngest sons birthday, the celebration of the birth of Jesus, gift giving, holiday music, christmas cookies and traditions. October is the beginning of one of the best times of the year.

George’s Christmas Wish Has Been Published

George’s Christmas Wish Has Been Published. (Taken from Todd Polte's Blog, edited by me, his wife) Ethan had an idea for a story when he was around 9 years old. He asked Todd to help him write it, so he helped him put his ideas down and then helped him arrange his story ideas into a full story. They thought it was a very cute story and were hoping to have someone draw the pictures for it. 12 years later we still had no drawings. Todd figured when Ethan went to college for animation and was taking all the drawing classes that he would start, but between work and school assignments it never came to be. Then Jordan surprised Todd with a manila envelope addressed simply “For that home worker (that means Dad)” Todd opened it up to find several sketches that Jordan had drawn just from memory of having Ethan and Todd talked about the story. Todd fit the pictures into the story and had him draw a few more. We all liked it and they scanned the pictures into the computer and then had Jordan colore them in and Ethan put some finishing touches on them. They then had a nice Word Document that looked like it would be a fun thing to hand out. Then Todd did some research online for information on how to get this printed out in book format. On one site he put in his email address and phone number to get information… that led to the amazing process and quite by accident initially, they ended up with published work.
Paperback will be available soon for order online and an eBook format is also going to be available for direct purchase from the publisher, from Amazon, and other online bookstores. So Ethan is a published author, Todd is the co-author, and Jordan has his first published illustration work. AMAZING! OK we are not sales people and we are not saying you have to buy, but the publishing company would like to let you know that Preorders of the paperback are available at xLibris.com http://bookstore.xlibris.com/Products/SKU-0116366017/Georges-Christmas-Wish.aspx

So, it's been awhile

Hi there! Yes, it has been awhile. Let see what has happened since the last time I posted. Right before Mothers Day we had the staircase in our home replaced. We were going to have the banister/ballister done but were told that if we ever wanted to redo the stairs they would have to rip out the new banister/ballister to do so. We had 3 estimates done. The last one by a friend of mine son who is a woodworker. He was the only one that told us this. We asked for an estimate on both along with the painter/stainers estimate and decided to have everything done. While installing they found the the original staircase put in when the house was build 48 years ago was not connected to the studs. WHAT? So thank goodness we chose to have the old staicase ripped out and new ones put in. They did an incredible job. The stairs and banister/ballister are beautiful. I can't wait to decorate then for the holidays. That was our major repair to the house this year, we needed to have it done before Ethan's college graduation party which was at the end of May. We gave them a deadline of having it done by May 11th and they made our deadline. We plan on using them again for other remodeling done on our home in the years to come. One of the other things that happened was that our oldest child Ethan graduation college. He graduated on May 6th from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Art his major is Animation. He is currently working on his portfolio and resume in hoping to find a job or internship by the end of summer. (We hope). We are so proud of him and it still boggles my mind that I have a son who graduated college. Our other fantastic news is that our youngest Jordan decided to apply at American Academy of Art in Chicago and was accepted as a Sophomore. Going to College of DuPage wasn't doing anything for him. We are very please that about 17 credits will be transfer to the school and if he decides to start as a full time student, he will be able to start as a Sophomore. He wants to study computer illustration and hopefully work on Childrens books along with other types of illustrations. We are hoping for a fun and eventful summer will little stress and look forward to a family vacation/celebration later in the year.

Jordan will bave to make a decision soon if he is going to transfer or spend one more year at a junior college. We as parents can offer advise but the final decision will be his.

How is 2012 going so far....

We are now 22 days into the new year and how are things going? For the most part, pretty well. I have been at my job for 8 months now working less hours then at my last job and I somehow feel that I have less time to get things done outside of work then I had before. Thinking about it, I think it's because I get so much more done in my day at my current job then I ever did at my last job. There is so much more to do and more responsiblity at my current job then at my last job to squeeze into an 8-9 hour work day. Now when I came home, I am much more tired and don't want to do very much except to maybe settle in and relax for the evening. I am hoping that once winter weather starts to leave and we see spring arrive I will have more energy to want to do more. So for the most part except for being tired, nothing major has happened in the 1st 22 day of 2012.
